About the Venetian language
Venetian is a Romance language spoken by a few million people in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. It is a separate language from Italian, with its own literary history: it was the language of the Venetian Republic's administration and of playwrights such as Carlo Goldoni. Venetian emigrants also brought it to Brazil, where a variety called Talian is still spoken. It is written in the Latin alphabet and has no single standard spelling.
